OUR HISTORY

Local business man and active Tifton citizen, Lamar Jackson realized that the youth of the Tift area needed a place to come to that provided an opportunity to participate in activities that were safe and wholesome. After contacting YMCA of the USA, meetings were conducted to see if the community would support a Y. A steering committee was put together and funds were raised to create the foundation necessary to substain a Y, and the Tiftarea YMCA was officially granted a charter in August 1998 as a provisional YMCA.
